Ecotar-A (Ecotar-A BIO) is intended for removing dissolved iron, complex organoiron compounds, manganese, and hardness salts from water. It is recommended for the treatment of water from draw wells and low-depth bore wells. Visual evaluation of the initial water: water has a yellow-brown color and forms residual matter during water precipitation.
Ecotar-A BIO also decontaminates water alongside purification. This media includes specially prepared activated carbon additionally. Such carbon prevents bacterial (iron organisms) growth and foreign odors appearance.
Ecotar consists of four different ion-exchange and sorption materials: cation-exchange resins with different bead sizes, macroporous anion-exchange resins, special inert resins, and quartz. Ecotar removes mechanical impurities, dissolved iron, manganese, organically bound iron, hardness-causing salts, heavy metal ions, and humic acids from water.
As water passes through the upper layer of Ecotar inert resin, manufactured using a special technology, mechanical particles as small as 10 µm are removed. The inert resin also retains fine Ecotar particles during regeneration, preventing clogging of the control valve filter.
The main component of Ecotar filter media is cation-exchange resin, in which ion exchange takes place at the surface of the resin beads. As a result, iron ions and hardness-causing salts are removed much faster because the substances do not need to diffuse through the protective layer of the resin beads. Resin regeneration is equally efficient.
Thanks to a special manufacturing technology, Ecotar resin beads are packed closely together and provide a large contact area with water, ensuring effective removal of impurities. Iron can form stable, negatively charged complexes with organic compounds that cannot be removed by cation-exchange resins. For this reason, Ecotar also contains macroporous anion-exchange resins.
Several Ecotar blends have been developed to remove different types of specific impurities from water:
Blend A: Removes dissolved iron, complex organic iron compounds, hardness-causing salts, and manganese. Recommended for treating water from wells and shallow boreholes. Visual water characteristics: yellowish-brown colour; sediment forms after standing.
Blend B: Removes dissolved iron (up to 15 mg/l), manganese, and hardness-causing salts when the water contains only a small amount of organic compounds. Recommended for treating water from wells and deep boreholes. Visual water characteristics: clear and colourless initially; after standing, the water turns yellow and brown sediment forms.
Blend B30: Removes dissolved iron (up to 30 mg/l), manganese, and hardness-causing salts when the water contains only a small amount of organic compounds. Recommended for treating water from wells and deep boreholes. Visual water characteristics: clear and colourless initially; after standing, the water turns yellow and brown sediment forms.
Blend C: Removes elevated levels of organic compounds, including iron and manganese. Recommended for treating water from shallow wells, driven wells, and open water bodies. Visual water characteristics: yellow to brown colour; no sediment forms after standing.
